Our UK Las Vegas Love Story: Chris and Natalie

Some love stories take the scenic route. Chris and Natalie first met as teenagers in the UK in London, moving in overlapping circles without ever quite connecting. It wasn’t until law school, years later, that something shifted.

“We met as teenagers, but we were in different relationships then,” Natalie says. “And then we connected romantically in our 20s at law school, and then 10 years later, we’re together.”

Nearly a decade in, they’re still finding new ways to celebrate it.

More Than Love Letters

The couple’s path to a Las Vegas wedding began, fittingly, with words. They entered a competition run by a UK destination wedding and honeymoon magazine — one offering a $50,000 wedding to one lucky couple — by writing letters to each other over email. They called the series “More Than Love Letters.”

“We got a response back from the magazine that they’d love to interview us and hear more,” Chris recalls. “And at that point, I think we understood that we were on our way to winning something pretty crazy.”

What followed was anything but slow. The moment they landed, the city came to meet them.

“We got off the flight, we left the security gates, and already there was a crew of cameras,” Chris says. They were ushered into a limo, greeted by showgirls and Elvis, then whisked straight to Hell’s Kitchen for dinner before catching Jimmy Kimmel Live — all after an 11-hour transatlantic flight.

Making It Their Own at the Flamingo

The wedding itself took place at the Flamingo Hotel, in the hotel’s Garden Chapel. But Chris and Natalie had no interest in following the traditional script.

“One thing we did that isn’t traditional is that we got dressed together,” Natalie says. “We were both in the bridal suite. We were both the bridal party.” The glam squad arrived, did her hair and makeup, and the two prepared side by side. They walked down the aisle together.

“That’s what Las Vegas allows you to do — make it the day that you want,” Natalie says. “You don’t have to follow convention. You can make it fun, and you can bend the rules. And I think it’s a fun start to a marriage.”

After the ceremony, Las Vegas kept delivering its perfect desert wedding offerings. The couple flew out to the Valley of Fire for a photo shoot, champagne and cake included, then took a helicopter over Lake Mead.

“You see the expanse of it and how rich it can be,” Chris says of the flight. “Experiencing that on a small cove on Lake Mead, seeing a bit of wildlife — it really just got really special.”

Their accommodations matched the scale of the trip. A stay at Caesars Palace — a landmark they’d only ever seen in films — gave way to the Noble Suites.

“When we told our friends we were staying there, they couldn’t believe it,” Natalie says.

The final stretch brought them downtown to the Plaza Hotel, steps from the Fremont Street Experience, a different side of Vegas that felt equally alive.

A City That Feels Like a Film Set

For two UK natives, Las Vegas carried the particular magic of a place known only through screens — and arriving in person did nothing to diminish it.

“This is a place that we’ve only ever seen in movies, and it really feels like we’re in a movie when we’re here,” Natalie says. “It’s very cinematic for us, especially as British people. It’s just so alive and so full of possibility.”

It was a feeling that seems to suit them. A couple who found each other slowly, then all at once — and chose one of the world’s most electric cities to make it official.
