Applicants do not need to be ordained, have an affiliation with a church or religious organization, or possess a valid notary appointment in order to obtain permission to perform marriages if residing in Clark County, Nevada. Permission is obtained through the appropriate application process, paying the applicable fees, and completing the required training.
NEED TO RENEW? If you currently hold a Certificate of Permission to Perform Marriages that was issued by the Clark County Clerk’s Office that will be expiring within the next six (6) months, you will be sent a renewal packet by email (assuming we have a valid email address on file) and via U.S.P.S. mail (assuming your mailing address is up-to-date with our office. Do not use the resources on this page to renew.

If approved, there is no limit on the number of ceremonies that can be performed within Nevada’s borders for five (5) years from the date of issuance. Download the application packet by using the button below, then carefully read the instructions regarding the application requirements and approval process.

Please do not apply any sooner than three (3) months in advance of the ceremony. However, your application must be received at least thirty (30) days prior to the ceremony to allow sufficient time for processing. Notarizations should not be older than ninety (90) days from the date the application is submitted. To start the course now and determine your eligibility, click the button below:
Once you score 100% mastery on the course, a link will be provided to download the single ceremony application packet. After downloading the application, please be sure to continue to the next training slide and click the SUBMIT RESULTS button so that we have a record of when you have completed your training.
PERFORMING A MARRIAGE CEREMONY PRIOR TO OBTAINING AUTHORIZATION BY THE COUNTY CLERK IS ILLEGAL AND WILL RESULT IN A CIVIL PENALTY OF UP TO $1,500.
