LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas-area officials are looking for an artist to create an iconic wedding-themed mural fitting the Wedding Capital of the World.
The mural is planned for outside the entrance to the Marriage License Bureau at the Regional Justice Center in downtown Las Vegas, according to a spokesperson.
The selected artist will design a digital piece that can be transferred to a wall wrap. That piece will then be printed on vinyl measuring 40 feet wide by 14 feet tall, and it will be attached to the brick wall of the building for at least one year.
Local artist Jerry Misko created the inaugural mural for the Marriage License Bureau.
“We were thrilled with our first mural and loved all of the ways we were able to use it. Misko’s work will remain a part of The Wedding Capital of the World’s unique history,” Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya said in a news release. “We are hoping to find another local artist who can capture the fun and glamour of Las Vegas weddings while putting their unique spin on our story.”
Mural submissions should tell the story of Las Vegas as the Wedding Capital of the World while capturing the mid-century modern style of the community.
The selected artist will receive $5,000 for the project under a work-for-hire agreement. Clark County will own the artwork and can use it for marking purposes, including promotional items like shirts and cups.
Anyone interested is asked to submit their applications to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Feb. 29, at noon.
