Las Vegas (KSNV) — The Wedding Capital of the World is being honored ahead of an important milestone.
On Tuesday, Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom presented Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya with a proclamation declaring September 2023 ‘Wedding Month.’
The presentation included a bridal procession featuring flower girls and a ring bearer as well as showgirls in bridal veils that took place in Commission Chambers to the original song, “Las Vegas Will You Marry Me,” by composer Dan Slider.
Commissioners were also presented with bouquets and boutonnières before gathering for photos with Goya, members of the County Clerk’s office, and representatives from the Vegas Wedding Chamber.
The ceremony comes just as Las Vegas gears up to celebrate its 70th anniversary since first being recognized as the Wedding Capital of the World on September 23, 1953.
Since then, over five million “I do’s” have been exchanged across the valley with Las Vegas conducting more destination weddings than any other place each year.
The upcoming celebration will take place on Sunday, September 3 at Caesars Palace and will feature a vintage Vegas-style production show featuring a journey through seven decades of love and romance in Las Vegas.
Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased online.
